How it feels suddenly moving from being a healthy, productive member of society to severely limited ? And it gets worsen by prejudice and disbelieves about it.
Chronic fatigue syndrome can be severely disabling disorder characterized by severe fatigue which is difficult to explain by any underlying medical condition. It gets worsened by physical or mental activity. But it does not improve with rest. Not only is their energy zapped, but so is their self-esteem and self-image as they lose their ability to engage in the world as they desire and feel productive.
Causes; Ayurvedic point of view
Its considered as a condition of Vata representing depletion and tiredness. There are underlying factor of poor agni digestive fire, then formation of Ama, undigested matter/toxin is formed, causing bloating, constipation, or diarrhea. And also moves from the gut into the channels of circulation causing obstructions. Thus the flow of nutrients are obstructed, detoxification process is slowed down.
Another factor is the aggravation of doshas: Vata and Pitta.
Eating too much dry and cold food (including processed food or too much raw food), lack of restful sleep, excessive talking and sensory stimulation, too much mass media, overly strenuous exercise, overwork, travel, excessive fasting or sudden weight loss can cause the misbalance of the doshas.
Vata and Pitta doshas also become im- balanced and begin to exert their influence on the tissues of the body, contributing to pain, stiffness, fatigue and many of the other symptoms that are associated with CFS. Ojas is depleted and its symptoms may be reflected as psychological nature, such as fear, anxiety, anger, grief and trauma.
Age and Gender People who are in their 40s and 50s most often experience chronic fatigue . Studies have found that four out of five people with CFS are women. Depression and Psychological Factors The link between psychological disorders and chronic fatigue syndrome is problematic because so many of the symptoms overlap. The rates of depression are very high in CFS patients, possibly higher than in patients with other conditions (notably Fibromyalgia and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity). Signs and Symptoms
